What is Lymphatic Drainage massage, and can it help you?
Lymphatic drainage massage is a specialised, gentle technique designed to stimulate the flow of lymph fluid and clear blockages within the lymphatic system. At Be Well Hawthorn, Megan uses light, rhythmic pressure to support your body’s natural detox process, reducing swelling, easing fluid retention and strengthening immune function.

What happens in a session with Megan
Arriving
Megan will check in on what you're experiencing (swelling, fatigue, recovery from surgery or illness) so the session can be tailored to what your body needs.
The session
Manual lymphatic drainage uses gentle, rhythmic movements and light pressure, applied to specific areas of the body. It's non-invasive and can be relaxing throughout, although don’t decide on a lymphatic massage to relax.
Afterwards
The effects on your body's ability to detoxify, heal and regenerate build over the following days. Megan will let you know what to expect and how often to come back.

Looking for something else
Combine with Remedial Massage
Tight muscles and restricted fascia can compress lymphatic vessels, limiting fluid flow and contributing to the very congestion lymphatic drainage aims to relieve. Combining the two addresses both issues together, and many clients find it gives more complete, longer-lasting relief than either treatment alone.
Looking for a gentler, nervous-system-led approach
Sonia offers Craniosacral Therapy and TRE, both gentle options if you're looking for something other than hands-on, targeted work.
Looking to relax rather than treat a specific issu
Therapeutic massage with Amanda may be a better fit.

Questions
Common questions
A specialised, non-invasive technique that uses gentle, rhythmic pressure to stimulate lymph flow and clear blockages in the lymphatic system, supporting the body's natural detoxification and healing processes.
Signs your lymphatic system may need support include swelling, digestive issues, allergies, tenderness around the neck or underarms, stiff joints and ongoing fatigue.
Common causes include prolonged sitting, injury, inactivity, tight clothing, surgery affecting the lymph system, frequent illness and exposure to environmental toxins.
No. It's gentle and relaxing, using much lighter pressure than remedial or deep tissue massage. Megan adjusts pressure throughout based on your comfort.
Yes, and it's often recommended. Tight muscles and fascia can restrict the lymphatic system, so combining remedial massage with lymphatic drainage helps release that restriction while supporting healthy fluid flow, giving you the benefits of both in one session.
Arrive well-hydrated and wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing. Megan will begin with a brief assessment, so come ready to describe what you're experiencing and when it started.
Where delivered as part of a Remedial Massage Therapy session, it may be eligible under your extras cover. Check your policy before booking.

30+ Years
Sonia is an experienced holistic bodyworker with over 30 years of practice, grounded in a foundation of remedial massage therapy. At Be Well, she specialises in Craniosacral Therapy, Bowen Therapy, Reiki and TRE: gentle yet profoundly effective approaches to releasing tension, restoring balance and supporting the body’s innate capacity to heal.
Craniosacral Therapy holds a special place in Sonia’s practice. Rather than simply addressing symptoms, her sessions support the body in unwinding long-held patterns of tension, helping clients find a deeper sense of ease, balance and wellbeing. Her TRE certification was completed under the supervision of Richmond Heath, one of Australia’s leading TRE trainers and researchers, and her additional training in Somatic Exercise Releases for Trauma further deepens her understanding of how the body holds and releases stress.
Sonia believes real healing happens when the whole person is met: body, nervous system and spirit. Whether you’re navigating a specific condition or simply seeking deeper restoration, she offers a safe and skilled space to come home to yourself.
